This week there was a big leak of millions of email address – some with passwords. So I’ve made a 7 minute video that’s really worth watching explaining why you should use a password manager to generate and remember passwords, and how doing so is not just more secure but is actually more convenient as well.
I’m often asked to add, remove or change users on my clients’ WordPress sites. But it’s actually really easy to do this yourself. This video explains why you would use multiple user accounts and talks you through adding a new user in WordPress. We also look at deleting and editing users, and re-visit the password reset process.
WordPress 4.8 contains lots of “behind the scenes” stuff that you probably won’t notice. But these changes will make your website editing easier, either now or in the future. However, on the surface there’s not so much to see. This “what’s new” video is only three minutes and shows you just two main new features. Enjoy!
OK, WordPress 4.7 isn’t new now, but it’s been a while since I did a screencast, but I’m way overdue an overview of what’s new in WordPress version 4.7. So here it is.
This is a short overview of what’s new in WordPress version 4.6. There’s not much, but hopefully a few helpful tips and pointers to help you through the new release.
This is a short video giving an overview of the main changes for users in WordPress 4.5.
This video is a screencast for WordPress developers describing the different types of WordPress loops and queries:
I outline the different uses, show code examples, explain the pros and cons and so on.
Confession: this was a bit of an excuse to try out some recording kit and to try doing a more in-depth screencast tutorial. It’s a bit long and rambling (despite editing) and far from perfect, but isn’t so bad for a first go at this kind of thing. Do let me know what you think!
After a bit of a break we take a whistle-stop tour of the theme customizer. The customizer lets you change theme options with a live preview, and even preview new themes!
